1. Tribal Waka
The seven waka that came to New Zealand were called Tainui, Te Arawa ( My waka), Mataatua, Kurahaupo, Tokomaru, Aotea & Takitimu.
2. The Ancient Tuatara
Did you know the Tuatara is the only beak headed reptile in the world? Every species of the reptile family except for the Tuatara died around 65 million years ago!!
3. The meaning of Kia Ora
The most obvious meaning of Kia Ora is hello. But the two words have a more powerful meaning. 'Ora' meaning to be alive. 'Kia' changes Ora to a verb so instead of alive it would change to living. So when you say Kia Ora to someone you are wishing the essence of life upon them.
Activity 2: North & South
My hometown is Paihia. It is such a beautiful place with awesome wildlife. We live so close to the beach and we have amazing people. There are lots of fun things to do like parasailing, dolphin seeing & helicopter rides. I am so proud that I can call Paihia my hometown.

Hello Bella,
ReplyDeleteI like your blog post I like how you put the worlds into the footprint.
Hi Bella,
ReplyDeleteI think your facts about Aoeteroa are very interesting. I think that it is astonishing that the Tuatara is the only beaked reptile and that is the most oldest reptile in the world.
I can't wait to for the other activities in the summer learning journey.
Keep up the amazing work! Taleisha.
Hi Taleisha,
DeleteThanks for commenting on my blog. It is crazy that the Tuatara is the only beaked reptile. I can't wait for the other activities either.
Good Luck!!

Hi Bella,
ReplyDeleteWow. you have so many comments on your blog post! It is so cool to see you and your classmates are uplifting each other through positive, thoughtful and helpful comments, ka pai.
I loved reading about your hometown. I absolutely adore Paihia and it's beautiful scenery. Do you have a favourite activity that you like to do there? I personally love kayaking and find it a lot of fun exploring around the bays and across to little islands with my friends.
I look forward to seeing your activities tomorrow.
Nga mihi, Georgia.
Hi Georgia,
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot for your awesome comments on my blog. Paihia does have extremely beautiful scenery doesn't it!! My favourite activity to do is the dolphin seeing. It is amazing because we see more wild life then just dolphins. We see beautifully coloured birds and many species of fish. Once my friend Jamie saw a whale which was pretty cool!!
Have a nice day Georgia!!
