Summer Learning Journey W4 D1

Activity 1: On your blog, tell us what you and your family do to celebrate special events, such as birthdays. Do you have a special meal or go to a specific place? In our house, we usually make a pizza and bake a special cake. What about you?

We have just a family birthday we don't normally have a big party we just stay with family. We also let the chef in the house bake the cake on that persons birthday. I normally make the cake. We also take the person out for dinner and come back to watch a movie.

Activity 2: On your blog, tell us what you would do with $300 million dollars. How would you spend it? It is a lot of money so please think carefully about it and spend it wisely :-)

I would first give a little bit to my family. But once I have done that I would save it until I have something I really want.

Bonus Activity: In honour of the rise in popularity of the ‘selfie,’ take a selfie and post it on your blog. Try to show us at least one of your hobbies or one your favourite things (maybe a special toy or book).

I love reading and listening to music.

Review: I loved this activity because we got to talk aout ourself and our traditions for birthdays. 5 stars.

Bonus Activity: On your blog, tell us what you think. Should students have to pay money (tuition fees) to go to university? Why or why not?
I don't think students should have to pay for their university. But, they could work for free during their studying to help pay for their tuition fees. For example, students who are training to be teachers could teach a class once a week. This would give other teachers time to do other work and would help to make their lives a bit easier. Students studying to be vets could help in a veterinarian clinic. This would also give students some experience in the field they want to work in.
I give this 4 stars.

Summer Learning Journey W3 D4

Activity 1: On your blog, use the following sentence starter from the original book to finish the story.

Out of the gate and off for a walk went Hairy Maclary from Donaldson’s Dairy,

Down the park and on the ferry.

He hopped off and found a bench to take nap,

When he woke up someone had stolen his cap.

He walked up the street,

But realised he wanted something to eat.

He walked to a cafe,

And in the lost propety he had nothing to say.

His cap was sitting there,

He felt like a millionare,

At home Hairy Maclary,

Was happy and merry.

Activity 2: On your blog tell us which country you would visit and give us three (3) reasons for your choice. Find some pictures on the internet of things that you would like to see and do in this country.

I would love to go to France to see Paris and also to see the Ifle Tower, Notre-Dame de Paris and I would like to go to mueseums in Paris.

Bonus Activity: Imagine that you were Scotty Morrison and you were able to interview anyone you wanted. I would choose to interview our new prime minister, Jacinda Ardern. I’d love to know what it is like to be the Prime Minister.  What about you? Who would you choose to interview and why? What would you like to find out?

I would also like to interview Jacinda Ardern because she is our our prime minister. I would like to find out how long she wants to be Prime Minister and what plans she has for the future of New Zealand.

Review I liked this post for Summer Learning Journey I give it 5 stars.

Summer Learning Journey W3 D3

Activty 1: Watch the following three clips that were shown on the Ready to Roll programme:

When you have finished, rank the clips in order from your most favourite (#1) to your least favourite (#3). Post your rankings on your blog.

1: Golden Harvest beacause I really like the of the music and they play really well.
2: Ray Columbus and the Invaders I didn't like this one beacuse it just seemed boring and not the type of music I would listen too.
3: New Zealand Underdogs, I don't even know why I don't like it.

Activity 2: Fashion in the 1970s was quite unique. Take a look at the pictures of a ‘typical’ 1970s outfit and tell us, on your blog, two things that you like about 1970s fashion and two things that you don’t like about the fashion of the day. I am not a huge fan of the patterned pants. What about you?

I like the skirts because they are really good for this time of year and they aren't to short either. I don't like the baggy pants because you could trip over them. Overall kinda like there style.

Bonus Activity: Think about your school. What is one thing that you would like change. Would you like to learn about different things? Maybe you think school should only be open 3 days a week?

On your blog, write a letter to your principal to try and convince him/her to make the change. Ensure that your letter is polite and respectful.

Dear Mrs Lindsay,

I would really like it if we could learn more about social media sites and how to use them. It would mostly be aimed to the people who are leaving to high school and are probaly getting a phone just to teach them. So like Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat. To see what is good to post, what is bad to post and what trolls there might be in there network future.
Yours Sincerely,
Bella

Review: I loved this one because we got to decide and chose them and also say why. I am really bad at saying why but throughout the Summer Learning Journey I think I have gotten better. 5 stars.

Activity 2: Read about their tour of New Zealand below, and then post three interesting facts about The Beatles Tour on your blog.

  • Police at the concert were just ordainary people with know uniforms on. I think it was so no one could suspect them.
  • People put on a haka for The Beatles.
  • The Beatles actually had to put on their dooor 'Now girls, No noncence or I will leave'
That would of gotten them away.

Summer Learning Journey W3 D1

Activity 1: On your blog tell us if you think that the ‘meat and three veg’ rule is a good one. Do you like the rule? Would you enjoy eating a typical 1950s dinner? Why or why not?

I don't like that idea beacuse some people my be vegans or vegetarians. I also would not like eating in the 1950s I don't actually know why though.

Activity 2: Read through the lists. Are these popular names in your school? On your blog, tell us which names are currently popular in your school. Please provide, at least, three girls’ names and three boys’ names that are popular.
