Metaphor Poem

In Te Ngahere we have writing with metaphors . I have already posted a blog post like this but I have improved it a lot. The thing I need to work on is thinking more outside the box with my metaphors. I think I did well writing these because you are suppose to be writing metaphors when you go to high school but we are starting now. But I could do better by writing more complex metaphors.
I hope you like my poem.

Bella is a marshmallow, soft and sweet.
Bella is a rimu tree protecting the helpless bushes from the mischievous insects that lurk on the ground at night.
Bella is a mole, hiding from others and curious about what’s outside the burrow.
Bella is a chromebook fully charged and ready for learning.
Bella is a candle lighting our way through dark times.
Bella is the color pink, bright and playful.

Metaphor Poem

In Te Ngahere we have been learning to use metaphors in our writing. We were using this to create a poem about ourselves. Our poems weren’t allowed to have the word because or I. Instead we had to write Bella is… J. I think I could do better by thinking more outside the box and I am also writing similes instead of metaphors.   I enjoyed writing about ourselves because if someone reads it the will get a better picture of what we are. Just so you know this is my poem and it is a draft copy I will keep fixing it up through the week. I hope you like my poem.😀

Bella is a marshmallow, soft and sweet.
Bella is a giant tree looking after the little bushes.
Bella is a candle lighting our way through our dark times.
Bella is the color pink bright and playful.
Bella is a mole, hiding from others and curious of the outside world.
Bella is a mindcraft character shaping her world and adventures.

Bella is a Chromebook fully charged and ready for learning.

Pepeha

For the past few weeks in Te Ngahere we have been saying our pepeha and sharing it. A pepeha is a summary of where you came from. For our pepeha we had to add  a few extras like our grandmother, grandfather, parents and siblings. To show my learning I used a powtoon. It was fun adding cool pictures and effects. I think I did well saying my pepeha off by heart. I also enjoyed doing my pepha because I got to learn more about my family.

Summer Learning Journey W4 D5 OMG FINAL DAY!!

Activity 1: Take a minute to think about your future. What would you like to do when you finish school? Would you like to work in a specific job? Would you like to study at university? What would you study? Maybe you’d even like to move overseas. Share your thoughts and ideas on your blog site. There are no wrong answers!

When I finish school I am going to stay with my parents for another year before I go to university to get a job and choose what I want to study when I do go to university.

I am definitly going to go to university so that I can get a proper job and become what I want to be.

If I was to study something it would be science and acting. I would study zooligy and I really want to become a actor.

Activity 2: On your blog please tell us which of the three cars you would choose and why.

I would have the hover car becuse it can fly OMG. But I would rather have one of those cars where the doors come up...  DeLorean.

Bonus Activity: On your blog write a description of what New Zealand will be like at that time (80 – 90 years from now). What kind of houses will people live in? What will they eat? Where will they work?

I think in the future there would be hover cars and there would be hoverboards that would actually hover. Also I think robots are going to be like all over the world. Sadly I think some of our native birds are going to become extinct :(. The will eat normal food and scientist would be able to find away for people to live on mars.

Review: Thank you so much to the Summer Learning Journey Team for helping us to stay at out standard and even learn a little bit more. I am so excited for next year:)

Bye world!!

Summer Learning Journey W4 D4

Activity 1: Watch the trailer for Moana and then write a summary of the movie on your blog. If you’ve seen the movie, you can include your favourite part! Tell us as much as you can about the movie. What is it about? Who are the main characters in the movie? What do they do in the movie? Where do they go?

Moana is the story of a young girl called Moana. She really wants to go outside of the reef but her father will not let her. She disobeys her father and goes to the reef. She goes out with her pig and then the drama happens. A big wave knocks her poor pig off the boat and Moana tries to save him but she gets trapped herself. From that incident she is determined to find Maui, Maui isn't that keen a doesn't agree until finally he agrees and their journey begins. You should go and watch the movie.

Activity 2: Watch this short clip from Country Calendar. What do you think would be the most interesting and/or challenging things about being a farmer? Would you would like to be a farmer when you are older. Why/why not? Give us, at least, two reasons to support your answer.

The most challenging things for a farmer would be when there is a drought. The cows or sheep would have no food and the farmers would be struggling.

I don't like Country Calendar because it is boring and they just talk. Also it isn't really exciting.

Bonus Activty: Think of your favourite song. Share the name of the song, the name of the person who wrote the song and the lyrics from the song on your blog. You must type the lyrics not cut and paste them in order to earn full points for the activity.

Name: Something Big
Writter: Shawn Mendes

Lyrics:

1234

Whoa, oh oh oh oh whoa, oh oh oh oh oh.
Whoa, oh oh oh oh whoa, oh oh oh oh oh.

Play the lottery you might win it.
It's like 25 for your life so you bust out of prison

Something's in the air, something's in the air.

Whoa oh oh oh.

Something big I feel it happening,
Out of my control,
Push and pull and then it's grabbing,
Feel it in my bones like.

Whoa oh oh oh oh whoa, oh oh oh oh oh
Whoa oh oh oh oh
Something big I feel it happening
Oh whoa oh oh oh whoa oh oh oh oh oh oh
Whoa oh oh oh oh oh
Something big.

Summer Learning Journey W4 D3 LAST WEEK!! :)

Activity 1: Imagine that you had to form a coalition government with two other people.  Who would you choose to partner with?

I would choose my friend Tia because she is really smart and she is a good friend. For my next person I would choose Lilli-Rose because she is really good with politics and she is a really good friend and even cousin.

Activty 2: On your blog, please post a picture of your hometown and provide a list of three things that tourists, like us, could do if we came to visit. What do you like most about your hometown?

My hometown is Paihia, New Zealand.

3 Things that tourists could do:

  1. Go to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds.
  2. Go on a parasail trip.
  3. Hire a bike and go to the Mountain Bike Park.

I like my hometown because it is small so there isn't really any people.

Bonus Activity: Imagine that you are a teacher, and design your own classroom. What would it look like? What furniture would you have? I would love to have some beanbags for reading on.
