In Te Maunga we have been learning about celebrations me and Julian made a presentation about Burns Night. Burns Night is celebrating a famous poet called Robert Burns.  I think I did well doing this presentation but I think I could do better by adding more information into my presentation.

Toku Ako

In Te Maunga we have been trying to manage our own learning. We are managing our learning by doing a thing called Toku Ako (Our learning.) This is a timetable about our day. I think I did well doing this Toku ako but I think I could do better by finishing off all my must do's.

Persuasive Writing

In Te Maunga we have been learning to write a piece of persuasive writing. Our topic is Why Chromebooks Help/Don't Help Our Learning.   I think that I did well going  against what all the people said in my class. I think I could do better by putting more reasons in.

Why Chromebooks don’t help our learning.

I feel that chromebooks does not improve our learning because kids at the age of 5 are already staring at tablets for far too long.

My first reason is going on our chromebooks for too long is going to ruin our posture. Especially on the bean bags the chromebooks are sitting on our lap just waiting to destroy our body. If we are sitting at a table we are hunching over imagine what our backs are going to be in 50 years. TERRIBLE!!!!!

Secondly our sight might be affected by all the screen time. It will be on full power (all the brightness is on). If we are staring at the screen for a extended amount of  time we could become sightless.

Lastly some exams are written so we need to get the pencil grip before we do an exam otherwise we will not kill it.  So that means that we have to focus more on our handwriting so we can become awesome writers on a chromebook and in a book. Our hands are a very first-class part about our body so it needs all its muscles to be pumping.

What would happen if 5 yr olds were allowed to have a chromebook. I still think eight is too young. I am saying that parents they need to bring there time limit down. So what I am trying to tell you is that chromebooks do not help our learning and our health.  

London Fire

On Tuesday to Thursday Te Maunga were in Te Ngahere ( because our teacher was sick) so for reading we decided to read about the London fire. At the end we had to make a presentation about it here is mine.

I think i did well doing this activity but I think I could do better by putting more information in my presentation.

Te Reo Maori

In Te Maunga we have been learning to say objects around the classroom in Maori. We all had a buddy who tested us with the Maori words. Then Whaea Becks said we have to show our learning digitally. So I am going to show you my one.

I think I did well doing my Te reo Maori presentation. I think I could do better by pronouncing my Maori words better.
