Science Week

At Paihia School we have been doing a science week. We have a roatation and one roatation is 1 days worth. Today I went to Mrs Neuman and we made a car out of skewers, milk bottle tops, cardoard, pipe and a balloon. It was so much fun. I hope tomorrow will be just as fun. I think I did well making all the sciency stuff but I could do better by making the perfect.

Life Ed

In Te Maunga we have been really lucky to have a ladie called Terrie and a giraffe called Harold come and teach us about bullying. She said that we have lots of choices but only one decison, so chose the one that will have a positive consequence. I think I did well talking and answering the questions with Harold but I could do better by adding more detail in my questions.

End Of Term Reflection

In Te Maunga we have been learning to write a end of term reflection. The end of term reflection has lots of different questions on it and we have to answer 4 of them. For example... Overall my term was because…….

How am I different this term???
I think I did well writing this reflection but I could do better by adding more detail in my answers.

Here is my reflection

Overall my term was because…….

Overall my term was AWESOME because we learned so much more and Whaea Jessie came back which was great!!! Mr Lindsay helped us do year 7 and 8 stuff so it has been a really successful term. Next term I will learn lots more and have truck loads of fun stuff. Hopefully we will do a breakout and have the whole term with Whaea Jessie.

What am I particularly grateful for?

I am particularly grateful for Whaea Becks and Whaea Jessie. Whaea Becks teaches us all the levels and stages that we need to learn. She helps us if we are stuck and if we are falling behind. Whaea Jessie helps us for about 3 weeks and is kinda a second teacher. In my opinion she is the best teacher aid ever. We have a good relationship with both teachers so I am really grateful for that.

What was the most challenging part of the term?

My most challenging part of the term was learning the goal recall all multiplication facts. I was struggling really badly and I still don’t get it. I also find struggling working in peers, I prefer to work alone. I like all the students in the class but I am use to working alone. I actually feel like that it is kinda annoying when I work in a peer, I don’t know why.

How am I different this term???

I think I am different this term because I have like gotten smarter and strategies are easier. I hope next term will be easy and simpler, maybe I will even get up to stage 7. I also think my behavior is different by me being more well behaved.  I love how different this term is with the student led stuff.

Election

In Te Maunga we have been learning about the election. We learned about the leaders and their policies. Once I got home I made a presentation about the election. I did a little bit of research and presented it. I even made my own party. I loved doing this presentation because I got to know a bit more about their parties.

Here is my presentation.

First Aid

In Te Maunga we have been so lucky to have Whaea Rima come into our class and talk about how to save people's lives. Can’t you believe how lucky we are. Anyway she taught us first aid and what to do if someone had fainted, had a seizure or even as simple as an asthma attack. It was a little tricky at first but much easier once we got stuck into it. Once the end of the day was finished we had to make a presentation about what we learned. I did mine with John. I think I did really well making this presentation and focusing on what our task is.

Te Reo Maori

In Te Maunga we have been learning to count to 1000 in Maori.  It was really fun but because it isn’t our language that we always speak so it was a little hard. Tayla, Rikesh and I worked together and helped each other. I think I did well with counting up to 1000 in Maori but I could do better by remembering them so I know what they are for the future.    Here is my presentation.

Classcraft

In Te Maunga we have been playing this game called Classcraft. Classcraft is a game where you have to collaborate. You lose points but on the bright you also win lots of points. We also have a random event that our morning starts off with. The random event can be good or bad. I think classcraft is actually a good way to make kids behave better. I think I did well with classcraft because now I am making more quality pieces of writing.

Here are some photos.

4 Shot Movie

In Te Maunga we have been practising to make a 30 second movie for movie night. Anyah, Rymon and I made a movie about a running race. We had to use 4 different camera shots. A close up, a wide shot, a medium shot and a medium close up. Once we finished our movie we had to write a narrative about it.  I think I did well making my movie and narrative but I could do better by making it a little longer and for my story focusing more on my goal.

Here is my movie and narrative

                                         The Race

Lining up for a race, my heart thumping, pumping out of my chest. We had to run all the way to the goal post. My mind thinking what is going to happen, who is going to win? Will my rival cheat? I was completely nervous. I lined up and waited for the whistle to blow.

Waiting and waiting and waiting. Finally it blew, I ran as fast as I can. I hope I can beat my component. Will I? Can I? Should I? I was so close to the goal post, but so was my rival.

Strangely, out of the blue we tied. We didn’t get a medal of a trophy or even a piece of candy. I just had the joy of winning a race. We were huffing and puffing, so tired. I felt like I was going to faint. Next time I won’t tie and come 1st place.

Project Island Song

In Te Maunga some kids got to go to Project Island Song. It was really fun and exciting. Once we got back we had to write thank you letters and do a presentation about it. The presentation had to say what we learned, please have a look at my presentation. I did my presentation with Isaiah M and George. I think I did well doing this presentation by not going overboard with photos and effects but I could do better by putting more detail in what I learned.
