For The Birds

In Te Maunga we have been writing a story of a character's point of view. We had to watch a video called… For The Birds then we started to write the story. I decided to write a story about the mean little bird. I think I did well writing my story by adding awesome adjectives  but I could do better by sitting with sensible people and adding more metaphors.

Here is my writing

I left my comfy home and sat on a power line. It was so nice and peaceful until all my brothers and sisters came and ruined everything. My brother was sitting closest to me so I punched him for fun and for ruining my peace and quiet. Before I knew it a GIANT feud began. I didn’t even want this to happen but it is the circle of life. “Squark,Squark, Squark (Stop it, no you stop it)” said everyone.

I was EXTREMELY annoyed with everyone. While we were having our quarrel a GIANT, HIDEOUS and Disgusting bird came and was way more annoying than my siblings. It kept on squawking in our faces. “Stop it hideous looking bird” I squawked. It didn’t like what I said and flew into the middle of the power line and all of my  sibling were all squished. I didn’t like it at all. I felt like a huge fire ball was inside of me and ready to burst any second. The BIG bird  had a fall and only its 2 claws were holding on. My brother and I started pecking away at his claws. The BIG bird had a slight smirk on his face. When the BIG bird only had 1 finger hanging on. All the of my siblings stopped and looked at each they knew what is about to happen. My siblings and I flung up into the air like a rocket ship, all our feathers come off. When we got back down I realised I was NAKED.  

All my siblings felt so embarrassed we didn’t have the guts to say sorry to BIG bird. Well I guess I have learn’t my lesson. If you are mean the consequence will be worse.

Learning Goals

In Te Maunga we have been trying to figure out what our goal are.. We have 4 goals a writing goal, a reading goal, a maths goal and a personal goal. We try and achieve our goals every week. Once we have achieved our goal we have to evidence it. A evidence could just be a picture of a poster, a slide show or a powtoon. I have achieved my reading goal that was… to understand all prefixes. I added some evidence by making a poster. Now I have to think of a brand new goal, I decided my new goal would be to understand all suffixes so maybe I just need to research a few, understand what it means then prove it. I think I did well achieving my goal quicker but I could do better by understanding what my goal means and how I can achieve it.

My personal goal was to talk less socially. I think I have achieved it because for a few days I have been sitting next to sensible people like Indie and Payton. I have been social talking a little bit but I have done better.  So now I need a new one. So I think It could be to stay on task.

Ghost Poem

In Te Maunga we have been doing this thing called Chapter Chat. If you want to find out more about Chapter Chat press this link. So I have made a poem about the main character Ghost (It isn't a ghost) I think I did well writing this blog post but I could do better by asking a sensible person to check my blog post.

Staring at the roof,

Mum crashing in the door warning him,

Thoughts scattering around his mind,

Everything is so confusing,

Stealing, Hurting Why?

Watching over my shoulder every second,

E Learning Symposium

In Te Maunga 4 people from our class were chosen to go to Ohaewai Primary and talk to other parents about what we have been doing. The students that were picked were Tia, Payton, Liam and I. We were so excited. We talked about Chapter Chat. If you are wondering what Chapter Chat is it will be in the presentation. I think I did well writing this blog post but I need to do better by showing it to other people.

Letter To Mrs Lindsay

In Te Maunga we have been writing thank you letters for Mrs Lindsay. We are writing persuasive letters to try and persuade her to buy a website called number hub. I think I did awesome at doing my writing but I could do better by talking less socialy.

Dear Mrs Lindsay,

I am here today to try and persuade you to buy us the awesome, spectacular, splendid, wonderful, amazing, fantastic and excellent Maths Hub website. I believe that we should have the Maths Hub website because it helps us achieve our goals,  saves the teacher a lot of time and it is so easy and clear.

Firstly if you are trying to figure out how to achieve your goal then you just go to the website and watch the video. Once you have done that there are a few practise activities and when you are done you can go and answer some questions that are on there to prove it so then we get a new goal. I thought it was your job to help us achieve our goals?

Secondly it will help the teacher so much by saving time because if we had to wait for Whaea Becks to say “go and do this worksheet then go and do e ako and and and”. If we just had the website then we could go and get our task.

Lastly it is not confusing at all. It is very clear and easy to understand. If the teacher was talking about our I cans we would be so confused because the teacher does not speak kid talk. The website can tell us everything we have to do and the students will understand what to do.

So Mrs Lindsay do you care about our learning, do you want us to get a good future?. If you do please get us this awesome website that will help us sooooooooooooooooooooo much. I hope I have persuaded you.
