Weekly Toku Ako

In Te Ngahere some of us have been doing weekly toku akos. We only do one day each day but we get to say when we do it. At the end of the week all of the must dos should be completed. If we get all of them done then we get to have a game of dodgeball. If we don’t finish them then we have to spend the amount of time we do dodgeball finishing our work. I am good and completing all of my work but I could do better by making sure they are quality.

Here are some pictures of the toku ako.

Technology

In Te Ngahere we have been doing some technology. My group Tayla and AJ are making some chip and dip bowls to sell for camp. Our plan is good so all we need to do now is build. I enjoy holding the wood because it tickles my hand. I could do better by actually sanding the wood instead of just holding it.

Good Breakfasts

In Te Ngahere we have been learning to eat healthy breakfasts. If you don’t know what, breakfast means; it means to break the fast. Everyone got a card that had a different breakfasts like spaghetti or coco pops. We had traffic lights that represents if it can be good everyday, sometimes and rarely ever. We had to learn how to read the labels. On the labels we had to see if the fat was under 10 grams, the sugar is under ten and the fibre has to be over 5 grams. Just a reminder this is per 100 grams not just grams. Tayla and I got the milo cereal. The milo cereal was in the orange on the piece of paper because it failed on the sugar. There was 36.9 grams of sugar in it.It was really interesting learning about breakfast because I didn’t know what breakfast meant before but now I do. Learning about breakfast is really important because if you don’t have breakfast you won’t have any energy during the day. In the future if my mum asked me if I wanted to choose whatever cereal I want, I would probably use this information and think twice about what to get. I think I did well listening to Whaea Gina but I could do better by understanding the labels better.

Kids Can Dress Up Day

On Wednesday at Paihia School we all dressed up as something random. I dressed up as a nerd and my little brother dressed up as spider- man. The whole school was so colourful and really bright. Some people dressed up as ghosts and others were dressed up as minecraft characters. It has been such a cool morning and I wish it was every day.

How to eat healthy

In Te Ngahere we have been learning how to eat healthy. Whaea Gina came in on Monday and told us about how much sugar are in different types of drinks. Green meant everyday, orange meant once a week and red means once a month or hardly ever. Most of the drinks like Coke and Powerade had about 10 sugars. The most surprising drink had was the E2 drink it had 20 sugars. That is 4x the amount you should have daily. I now want to learn how to read the labels on drinks or foods so I can see if it is good for me.
